So apart from lying on the beach, eating and talking I was also snap happy as the light in Portugal was amazing. Being obsessed with the sun and light (in a non tanning way) I was pretty happy with Portugal’s offerings.  At sunset the whole sky went bright pink bouncing off the rustic tiled walls of the buildings which lined the cobbled streets. Coming from Scotland getting to escape to bright blue (and pink) skies is quite nice even if it was only for 4 days, don’t get me wrong Scotland is beautiful….but we all know it rains a lot!
So before I knew it we were back in London and then back to Scotland for me. Since being back I have been editing Simon and Linsey’s wedding. Simon and Linsey got married on Sunday 4th of September. Their wedding was absolutely beautiful in the setting of the Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge London. They were married with a Jewish ceremony, followed by Israeli dancing, which was definately the most energetic dancing i have come across, it even rivals ceilidh dancing! Linsey looked absolutely beautiful and the whole day went flawlessly. I will post some photos soon.

So off to bed as my camera batteries are on charge for Philip and Lauras wedding tomorrow at Hotel Du Vin…..ahhhhhh i love weddings!

When they arrive i will post some photos for you all to see the beautiful albums in sage green and English linen! Exciting…well i am anyway!

So the past couple of months have been all go on the wedding front. I had the pleasure of taking photographs at the wedding of David and Monique in Dunoon, followed by the reception at  InverKip Marina. It was a wonderful day and you never would have guessed we were in Scotland as the sun beamed down! Just after i had invested in some beautiful wedding umbrellas there was no need to use them! Monique looked absolutely beautiful and Dave her perfect match. both families were a pleasure to be around and treated me as if i was one of the guests, it was a pleasure to meet all involved. Now every wedding is very special to me and i love every second of taking photos at a couples big day however Monique and Davids wedding had a touch of nostalgia for me which added to the enjoyment of the day for me. A large chunk of my child hood was spent at Kip as i am lucky enough to have a sailing family. my grandparents still keep their boat there so after the evenings festivities i made my way down the pontoon to stay on the boat. Ahhh there is nothing that sends me to sleep quicker than the sound of clinking masts!…yes i am slightly strange but childhood memories and all that!

The morning after the wedding i woke up to another incredible day and the arrival of my uncle and his fiance and there started my mini holiday! It really felt like a holiday abroad as we sailed up the west coast of Scotland with the sun pelting down. My adventurous side  was screaming out for some adrenaline (those of you that know me will recognise this quality) and i was satisfied as i roped my uncle into jumping off the top of the boat with me…several times! Im not sure if it was adrenaline that kicked in or the sheer will to live as i hit the freezing cold water! Having worked out in South Africa over the past couple of years the realisation of the difference in water temperature was significant!

So all in all i was left feeling extremely lucky after such a fab weekend. Hopefully the next couple of months will bring us more sunshine as winter inches closer and hopefully many many more weddings! Yesterday i was down in South Queensferry taking photos at the wedding of Allan and Claire. It was a beautiful day and beautiful settling as the ceremony look place in The ancient Priory Church. The church which is now an Grade A listed building, was once part of a medieval Carmelite Friary at the hub of life in the royal burgh of Queensferry. The town of Queensferry grew up around a ferry passage which was established by Queen Margaret of Scotland in the 11th century, to transport pilgrims across the Forth to holy shrines in Dunfermline and elsewhere.

As i made my way up the somewhat narrow spiral staircase to the top of the church to take a birds eye view photo over the ceremony, the history of the building was evident and the stunning towering stain glass windows made am impressive back drop. Being beside the water made me instantly happy and i thoroughly enjoyed the day.

I wish Allan and Claire lots of happiness as they start married life together and thank them for choosing me to take photographs at their special day.

Over the past 7 years since graduating from Art school i have done some absolutely amazing things, all with camera in hand. I’ve lived in Australia, South Africa, London to name a few and travelled to so many exciting countries. After uni i found a passion for surfing, a late age to start but i threw my self into it none the less and it was this love affair that took me to so many exciting places. Never straying to far from the ocean i met some incredible, influential people along the way and gained some very special friends as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The world is indeed a small place!

I should have really started writing a personal blog a long time ago to document these exciting adventures, but i suppose its better late than never! I returned to the UK just over a year ago. After being lucky enough to experience living and working in London and South Africa, getting to travel through South Africa, surfing and getting paid for it along the way,  I have returned to Scotland to “grow up” a little and concentrate on a similar but different career path. Although i have grown up slightly i still have a passion for travelling the world, experiencing new things and meeting new people. So i hope this blog will bring occasional tales of plane journeys, sunshine and artistic endeavours! My aim is to travel the world taking photographs of weddings and sport (amongst other things), my two favourite subjects. So if you are sitting reading this on the other side of the world thinking you would like me to take your wedding photo’s but im too far away, get in touch, nowhere is too far away! Distance makes things fun!

I have been lucky enough to take travel photography from strangely unique countries, exotic countries, second world countries and  countries with the most wonderful lifestyles. Highlights would definitely be taking and getting my photography published of the top surfers in the world. It is these experiences that have made settling up my own photography business so much fun and has made it go from strength to strength. Currently i am concentrating on wedding photography. Im sure not many people get to confidently say that they love their job and get to work with genuinely happy (but occasional stressed) people.

So have a look around and pop back from time to time, as i will be updating this with my thoughts, art, music and other random things that i like.
